10. Requesting A Testimonial

a) Testimonial request for patrons of a standard event

I’d be grateful if you could write 1-2 sentences about how <EVENT NAME> affected you. Being able to post this on our website would make a great difference to us.
Thanks for your time and support. We hope to see you again soon!

b) Testimonial request for customers who booked you for a gig

I’m writing to ask you for a small favor.
Might you be open to writing 1-3 sentences that you could email to me about how <EVENT NAME> felt and about your experience of working with us? We’re updating our site and I’d be grateful if you’d share any thoughts that we could include with our testimonials.
Thanks a lot for your consideration!

11. How to Structure a Sales Call

The standard steps that you should go through for an initial sales call on the phone:

  1. Do some background research on the organization and/or person you want to sell to – how can you connect with them, which offerings are most likely to appeal to them?
  2. At the start of the call, introduce yourself and (briefly) your work including your main unique selling points.
  3. Inquire about their needs.
  4. Identify the sales potential – which offerings apply to their situation and how interested are they in them?
  5. Agree your follow-up actions – email them further information or a proposal, call again on a specific date?
  6. Summarize the important points of the call.
  7. Ask whether they can give you the contact details of other people who might be interested in your work.
  8. Thank the prospect and end the call.
  9. Follow up as agreed, ideally immediately.
